Hello and welcome to "A View From the 13th Floor." I'm a long-time blogger, first time blogging about myself. I turned 50 this year and moved into a disabled/senior living environment (NO it's NOT a home!), and I have some personal views that I thought it was time to share with the world!
Okay, it won't be anything earth shattering, I'm sure, but you may find a giggle or an outrage somewhere in here that calls out to you.
In the blog description I said this is a political blog from an odd person. I don't really consider myself odd so much as I do eccentric and set in my ways. I can be quick to judge and slow to change. I guess that makes me a grumpy old woman! I've been called worse.
I don't understand how "The Donald" became our president. Trump is great at getting down in the dirt against opponents that he feels he will never need again. He has a much harder time fighting for what he wants (not to be confused with what is right) when it comes to those he may need in the future.
Now, I understand not wanting to burn bridges, but Trump goes immediately to his phone and tweets out some pitiful response. It's like a child throwing a tantrum. It gets nothing done. He knows this. Everyone in the country knows this, and yet we do nothing. Apathy is the killer.
I'm here to stop apathy. Or at least put a kick in your giddy-up!
You may find my views slightly stronger or different from most of the others opining out there. That's because I speak for the truly forgotten Americans. I am a true old maid in every sense of the phrase. I have never been married and have no children. I represent every American with no dependents and no spouse on their tax returns.
I didn't vote for Trump, but I know who did. I was a bartender for seven years at a neighborhood bar catering to a mostly white, mostly male, mostly single clientele. These are the true Trump supporters. I don't know why they think that Trump would represent them, but I'm sure they did.
So, that's where I'll be coming from on this blog. The forgotten Americans. We are poor and single and we matter!
